Her head snaps around at Greg’s enthusiastic words and Talula quickly closes in on the glass case. “Ooooh, they make their’s so realistic, look at the coloring they’ve done!”

She lifts her head up to look across the counter top at the proprietor and gives the young man a shy wave. “Excuse me, but could I please get some of your excellent looking marzipan?” They exchange a quick conversation and before too long, she’s happily clutching a bag with four pieces in it. “I got a couple of extras na’ha’ne, so we can share since I haven’t had some in a few weeks!”

"Really impressive… Let’s buy one of each type!" he suggested, his eyes already landing on the thick pears made of marzipan. Just those were enough to make his mouth water, feeling hungry again all of the suffen.

Once they had the bag with the marzipan pieces, Greg was beaming in delight. “Can I have the pear? I think it’s the one I like the most…” he please, giving her puppy eyes before he remembered something important. “This place was an information stall as well, right? Perhaps we should ask here about what places can be visited, and things we can do while we’re here.”

Slapping her forehead with the palm of her hand, Talula rolls her eyes as she huffs, “Oh my gosh! I forgot everything else once I saw this scrumptious looking candy! I am so sorry, you can punish me later”, she offers with a coy wink of her eye.

She turns back around and walks up to the counter again and sheepishly asks, “Pardon me but I forgot to ask, we’re tourists and were wondering if you could tell us a bit about the sights we can see while we’re visiting?”

The young man smiles as a short laugh rolls from him, then he reaches under the counter and pulls out a guide map. After explaining in brief detail, she nods her head then returns to her husband’s side. “This should help us in deciding what we want to do, all the major tourist sites are clearly marked on this map!”

Studying the map a moment, Talula glances up to look for any markers that coincide with what was on the screen. When she sees a storefront nearby, its address matches one in the map.

"Bingo! There’s the closest one and heeey…it’s a candy store! I wonder if they have any marzipan?" There was no mistaking the longing in her voice, the look she gave Greg was all sad puppy dog as she makes a quiet whining noise.

Greg couldn’t help but laugh a little, his wife’s love for marzipan was something he never could forget. “At this time of the year? It would be a crime if they didn’t have any!” he chuckled, taking her hand. “Let’s go there! Some marzipan to eat while we’re exploring this place sounds like the  best way to do it!!”

As they walked into the shop, Greg kept his eyes open, trying to find the sweet prize that Talula was longing for. He released her only to clap in excitement when he saw it.

"Look, look na’ha’ne! I’d say that’s marzipan, isn’t it?"

Her head snaps around at Greg’s enthusiastic words and Talula quickly closes in on the glass case. “Ooooh, they make their’s so realistic, look at the coloring they’ve done!”

Talula chuckles as she answers, sometimes her husband was too amusing. “Well, I’m not sure what it was like that far back but it certainly has changed since eighteen sixty three!”

She was going to add more but the bus makes its stop and the driver hurries into a nearby restaurant, leaving the door open as a sign that everyone should get off. “Well, looks like we’re here. Maybe we should ask someone where we can go to get some information?”

"Sounds like a good idea to me." Greg nodded in agreement and got up, letting other passengers walk out first, so neither him or Talula ended bumping into anyone. "We’ll need to check Google maps to find the closest informations stalls… They should be a few all around…."

Greg was right. It didn’t take him too long to find some with his cellphone and handed it to Talula. “Which one do you want to go first?” he asked, curious.

With a casual look, Talula notices the tension in Greg’s posture and does what she can to set his mind at ease. “I thought once we get there, we could find a visitor’s center and plan our visit from there. The most popular place will most likely be the most crowded as well. But then, Billy the Kid was pretty famous as outlaws go!”

The passenger exchange doesn’t take long and they’re soon once again on the road, there were less people now then when they first got on. In only a short length of time, their destination comes into sight and a wave of relief washes over her when she sees all the changes that have taken place.

She starts when the driver announces they’ll be stopping soon and that anyone returning back to Albuquerque should be back at the bus stop no later then seven o’clock tonight.

"I’m glad you’ve got a plan… I was feeling a bit lost, not knowing where to start." he confessed, giving her a tender hug. His posture began to relax. "Thank you so much, na’ha’ne."

From there, Greg held her close, quietly admiring the changes of scenery until a brief momevement of her let him know that they had finally reached the place they were looking for.

"Wow, that’s Fort Summer?! It’s…. nicer than I’ve imagined." he whispered, before giving a tender look to Talula. "Looks like 500 years have changed this place for the better… What do you think?"

Talula chuckles as she answers, sometimes her husband was too amusing. “Well, I’m not sure what it was like that far back but it certainly has changed since eighteen sixty three!”

Talula giggles at her love’s reaction upon hearing of the accidents, it wasn’t that hard to imagine happening considering how many freight trains travelled that particular stretch of track.

"Well, we won’t have to go near the train tracks since they’re well outside of the town. But from the statistics I read, hundreds of trains cross there every day!" When she finishes talking, she settles back against Greg’s lean frame and watches out the window until the driver announces their next stop.

"We’ll be stopping in Santa Rosa in ten minutes, all those getting off there please be prepared to disembark."

Greg flinched slightly when he heard the name of that town. Even if his beloved wife had put his fear to rest, the thought of train accidents still scared him a little, even more knowing that so many trains passed through that area.

"So, after Santa Rosa, the bus will take us straight to Fort Summer?" he asked, just to make sure that hadn’t forgotten anything. "What do you to do there, the first thing?"

With a casual look, Talula notices the tension in Greg’s posture and does what she can to set his mind at ease. “I thought once we get there, we could find a visitor’s center and plan our visit from there. Silver Mists

Giving the dragon woman an affable grin, Talula points at the thermos lid with her muzzle. “I’ll use the cap, it was designed to also be used as a cup and it holds a decent amount as well!”

She gives a brief nod as she listens to Amoxtli explain her presence, it raises a question that she blurts out uncensored. “Why did you come to Metro City in the first place though?” When she realises her query might appear to be a bit forward, she quickly tries to make amends. “I mean, as nice as it is, if you have issues with so many of the common materials used in everyday items I’d think one would prefer a more uh, pastoral location…”

She does a mental facepalm as her ears grow hot, the insides turning a bright pink in embarrassment. “I’m sorry, I should mind my own business! Sometimes my curiousity overrides personal bounderies.”

"I came here because I wanted to" Amoxtli said pouring herself the hot chocolate and pouring another one into the cap. "I lived a long time in my village that is more rural in looks. City has many disadvantages for me, but it still doesn’t change the fact that it is interesting. And if you are smart enough you can over come the disadvantage." she replied to Talula’s questions smoothly not giving out if her words meant anything to her.

"I was born and grew up in a small village, in the New Mexico desert. Back then we were basically hunter gatherers, collecting the essentials from our Mother earth. When the white eyes came and took it away, we had to learn new ways to survive." There’s a slight note of longing in Talula’s voice, for that past way of life.

Leaning over, she begins to carefully lap at the steaming liquid in the thermos cap. The rich thick beverage warmed her as it slid smoothly down her throat. “Mmm, home made hot cocoa is always so much better than instant!”

Talula glances out her window and watches as some of the passengers get off while others get on, taking those seats that were empty. Looking back at her beloved, she quietly comments, “The last place we stop at is a town called Santa Rosa, after that it’s straight on through to Fort Sumner. I read somewhere that recently they had two different train wrecks on the same stretch of track there!”

It wasn’t long before the bus once more was rolling down the highway, everyone fell into a peaceful silence as the driver turned on the radio to a mellow rock station.

"Wow, really???!" That actually managed to scare the usually laid-back man. "If we ever spend some time in that time, remember me not to take a train there." He lowered his voice. "Just because I’m inmortal now doesn’t mean I’m willing to throw myself carelessly to dangerous places…"

Greg nuzzled her hair and scooted even closer to her, resting his head against hers. “There’s many things I’ve learned in this journey, that I feel that I’m going to miss Albuquerque.”

Talula giggles at her love’s reaction upon hearing of the accidents, it wasn’t that hard to imagine happening considering how many freight trains travelled that particular stretch of track.

The bus driver looks around before taking his seat and starts up the bus, he releases the parking brake as he checks his mirrors. The vehicle begins to roll and Talula leans against her mate, an odd sense of calm settling over as they begin to head towards the place that had entertained so many nightmares for her.

She fights the urge to fall asleep as the scenery changes from suburb to open desert, until finally she gives into it. A sudden bump wakes her and she opens her eyes, seeing they had come to a stop at the next location on their route. “Are we in Edgewood?”

Watching her leaning against him, a tender feeling of warmth and pride filled Greg’s chest. His beloved wife and their child, both resting against him, all relaxed as her wrapped his arm around them. His whole universe was there, and Greg loved both her and their child with all of his heart. Resting his head against hers, it wasn’t long until Greg fell asleep as well, happy in that moment of cuddles.

The sudden stop startled him a bit, but her voice made him return to the reality. “It seems so, there’s some people leaving the bus now.” he commented, giving her an affectionate nuzzle. “Looks like both of us fell asleep! I need to stay awake until we arrive there…”

Talula glances out her window and watches as some of the passengers get off while others get on, taking those seats that were empty.
