All the memories of the happiest period of her life being preserved digitally was enough to bring fresh tears to her eyes, it was the most monumental thing anyone had ever done for her. The love that went into it was obvious just by all the careful attention to detail, something that couldn’t have been easy considering the span of time her life had covered so far.

When it was over she was in such a state of wonder, it was almost impossible for her to speak. Clearing her throat as she sat up, there was only one way she could answer her love’s question and that was by wrapping her arms tightly around him while pulling him in for a deep tender kiss.

She finally had to release him for some much needed oxygen and slowly pulled away, sliding one hand down along his chest. “I think that was the best movie I’ve ever seen na’ha’ne, you definitely need to make more!”

Greg was more than happy to return the kiss. He wrapped his arms around her, caressing gently her back while his fingers messed gently with her hair, and poured all the love he felt on her lips, so warm and sweet as ever.

But they needed to breath, sooner or later. He was a bit reluctant of doing so, but being this close was just as amazing. He kept pampering her back, hoping he could ease the possible backache she could suffer due to her pregnancy. “I’m so glad you liked it, na’ha’ne! All that effort was worth it!”

"Indeed!" Phillip had been the last joining the family in opening the presents, but he had been watching the movie almost since the beginning. "Son, you’ve outdone yourself! Good job!"

"Phillip isn’t really that chubby though." Alice commented, rubbing her chin. "But in general, the movie was great, and I liked that you kept it so realistic. Maybe i could use parts of it to talk about the Navajo in the university. Your people deserves more recognition, Tal." The woman touched her arm affectionatelly.

Bernadette rubbed her nose, some thoughts blooming in her mind. “And now that you’ve finished your fist movie, Greg, what are you going to do?”

Greg smirked in pride. “Well, a good movie always deserves a sequel!” he answered, and looked into Talula’s eyes. “After our son is born, maybe we could travel around the world! After all, we can jump anywhere you want! And as long I can be with you, I’m sure we’ll live so many more adventures!!”

There was a mischievous glint in Talula’s  eye as she drew back slightly and queried, “You’re positive it’ll be a boy, what happens if it turns out to be a girl, mister? We should really start thinking of alternate names for both sexes, unless you’ve suddenly developed clairvoyance that is!”

She was only teasing him of course, it didn’t make any difference which gender their baby was as long as it was born healthy and whole. But the mention of using her abilities for casual travel along with adventure, certainly agreed with her.

"Well, I’d like to eventually visit family places but not until the baby’s old enough to enjoy them. For now, I think just visiting sites that we never thought we could is the most appealing to me."

LIKE A HURRICANE

Once I thought I saw you in a crowded hazy bar,
Dancing on the light from star to star.
Far across the moonbeam I know that’s who you are,
I saw your brown eyes turning once to fire.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away.

I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream,
You could have been anyone to me.
Before that moment you touched my lips
That perfect feeling when time just slips
Away between us on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away.

You are just a dreamer, and I am just a dream.
You could have been anyone to me.
Before that moment you touched my lips
That perfect feeling when time just slips
Away between us on our foggy trip.

You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but I’m getting blown away.

I truly and honestly wish I were dead right now.

Talula’s eyes were riveted to the screen as the images passed across it, her entire attention was on the unfolding story as she listened carefully to what it told. She was impressed by how much detail her husband had put in it and the character depiction was very good too.

Turning her head to glance in Greg’s direction, she quietly asks as she takes his hand and gives it a gentle squeeze, “How on earth did you manage to do all of this without my noticing? It must have taken a lot of man hours to animate, edit and compile the whole thing!”

"Remember why I used to go to work so early since we started dating? I often worked there when no one was looking. And I was drawing during classes, on my breaks, sometimes while travelling in the bus… Practically think of all the time I’ve spent out of home? I was working on this." he explained, smiling from ear to ear. "Javis and some classmates helped me with the colors. All of them were very excited when I explained them that I was creating a movie as a gift for you."

He squeezed gently her hand and snuggled with her. “Editing and compiling everything was just a couple of weeks scanning all the drawings and putting them all together in my computer. It was crazy… But the result was so worth it…”

With the same song that had started the dance of their wedding as background, several images of their life together started to parade through the screen. That wonderful day at the beach, Terence’s rescue and their adventure fighting the plant-based monsters, the announcement of Tal’s pregnancy, their betrothal, the prepararations, their wedding, and finally their honeymoon in Chaco, which finished the movie showing the couple admiring the same scenery of the start of the movie, as a beautiful eagle flew into the sky.

When the screen faded to black, the title showed up again, and the last credits started to roll again, with a lovely Navajo song in the background. Greg had been careful to contact Tom Redfeather, so the old man could help him to find a chant able to match the lighthearted, yet honest and brave vision that Greg had tried to portray in this movie. As the credits rolled down, Greg gave a sheepish look to Tal and the rest of his family. “So… How was that for my first movie?”

All the memories of the happiest period of her life being preserved digitally was enough to bring fresh tears to her eyes, it was the most monumental thing anyone had ever done for her. Greg was so surprised by the kiss that needed a couple of seconds to return it. But he did it, wrapping his arms around her and caressing gently her cheek, so much love and adoration in all his gestures. He felt really happy knowing that all the work he had been doing since their honeymoon was something she liked so much.

"You’re welcome na’ha’ne, I’ve done my best." He looked around, smiling to the rest of the family, still too caught up unwrapping presents. "Hey guys! Would you like to watch the movie I’ve done about Tal and all of us?"

"A movie about us? I wanna watch it!!" Bernadette jumped onto the couch, patting the seats by her side.

"Count me in!" Alice commented, joining her.

"I can sit on the floor while we’re watching it!" Jason added, adopting a kind of childish position not too far away from the TV.

Very soon, all the family was gathered around the TV, and Greg introduced the movie into the DVD player. The screen went black, and the credits started to roll, showing lovely, yet simple drawings of a little, black-haired girl, a small wolf and a red haired boy. The animation, screenplay, light effects and one of the voices had been provided by Greg, while Bernadette had been the one acting as Talula. Finally, the movie started… And it showed a beautiful twilight in Chaco.

This is the story of how I become the husband of the most extraordinary girl that the world has ever known. But it’s a funny story, don’t worry! To be honest, this story isn’t only about me. It’s mostly the story of my wife, Talula...

The scenery changed, becoming a slender hand-drawn animation, and it showed a little child playing around the flowers. Greg reached for Talula’s hand.

"That’s you." he whispered, very excited. "I did some research, I hope I got the clothes right…"

Talula waits for Greg to sit down, then snuggles back against him with a happy grin. She was feeling excited about what they were about to view and wasn’t even trying to hide it, not when it was all family present. When the opening scene appeared, a quiet gasp escaped her lips but there was a soft smile on her face.

"Oh na’ha’ne, this is lovely! You really did all of this yourself? And you got everything right!" she whispered fiercely as she turned to throw her arms around his middle, giving him a joyous hug. There were only a few times in her life when she had felt such a sense of wonderment, most in fact had only recently happened after she had met her life mate. The feelings inside of her were such, that she felt tears begin to well up. Quickly wiping the first ones away, she gives Greg another gentle hug while whispering, "And don’t worry my husband, these are tears of happiness!"

"Well, yeah, most of it. Bernie helped me with the voices." Greg had to give some credit to his sister, who was sitting next to them. Bernadette winked an eye to her sister-in-law, smirking.

Please with her words, Greg hugged his wife tightly and kissed her forehead as he wipped gently her tears. “I’m so glad you’re so happy… I’ve done my best with this movie. I think it’s my masterpiece…”

The movie continued, describing how Talula had been attacked by the Great Wolf spirit. From there, Greg had to use his imagination to draw all the people Talula had interacted with after her attack. The saddest scenes showed a greyish palette, while happier scenes were full of color and music.

Several times, the movie combined scenery from real places and the animation working as one. The result was certainly curious, but it didn’t look bad. In fact, some CGI effects had given to the animation a touch of realism which made the characters glow with their own light… sometimes quite literally, like in the transformation scenes. Greg made sure to touch several points of Talula’s life, treating all of them with the utmost respect, care and love. After almost 30 minutes, the little child of the beginning of the movie had grown into a beautiful woman, still clearly young-looking, but stronger and braver than ever. The same woman who crossed the portals and met his sister one day in the park…

"Look, that’s me!" Bernadette pointed to the animated version of herself, blushing slightly. The little animated!Bernadette was wearing a lovely gothic lolita dress and walking around with an umbrella. Certainly her brother had nailed it, that was her favourite outfit!

"And I’m about to appear, look!" Greg exclaimed, pointing to the scene starting right at that moment. It was the same scene, the one in which he had met Tal for the very first time. Blushing inmensely, Greg pulled Talula closer, feeling his own eyes grown watery. Tears of joy. These were some of his happiest memories, and he had taken care to describe the scene exactly as it happened, with all the details.
