With the summer around the corner, the Davis household had been blessed with a little new life. As he was walking on his way home after a hard day of exams in the university, Greg was replaying on his mind all the events of the last nine months: the rescue of his grandpa, a new house to live in, Talula’s soul-siblings, the wedding, their honeymoon, all the work of his first movie, their first Valentines day together, setting up everything for the arrival of the child… and finally, Tenni’s birth, where they counted with Sadon’s extraordinary help. So many things that made him smile, so many things he was thankful for.

And finally, his beloved home came into view. He opened carefully the door, not wanting to startle anyone - much less their child. His mother had tolf him that newborn babies slept a lot, so Greg was mindful with every step.

"Hellloo? Just came home~" he said as greeting, trying not to be too loud, knowing that his wife would hear him perfectly.

Talula had just finished feeding little Tennime when she heard her husband enter the house, a soft smile crossed her lips at the thoughtful way he called out in a quiet tone. When the infant in her arms heard the sound of his daddy’s voice, he began to squirm and coo.

"Up here na’ha’ne, we’re in the baby’s room!" She glanced over at her mother-in-law who had been there chatting while Tenni ate. "I told you he’d be home soon and I bet he remembered to stop at the pharmacy to pick up my vitamins too!"

"Oooh, good!" Noticing that Talula was speaking out loud, he guessed that Tennime was awake. That was great! He loved to greet both his wife and his son with big, big kisses. Sure Tal would appreciate something he had got at the chemist some hours ago.

Alice giggled in response. “You were right, darling! I hope he didn’t forget. Poor thing has been so busy with exams lately, that I’d forgive him if it slipped from his mind…!”

"But it didn’t slip! I bought them this morning, right before walking into the university!!" Greg interrupted her, peeking through the door. He took out the vitamins and handed them them to his mother, before he took a seat next to his wife. He cupped gently her cheek and kissed her slowly, taking his time to to enjoy the moment. After that, he pressed a soft smooch to their baby’s fluffy hair. "How are you, na’ha’ne? Did Tenni behave on my absence?"

Holding their child so he wouldn’t be squished between them as they kissed, she greedily returns it. Since they had to maintain abstinence for six weeks, she enjoyed any close contact as much as possible. When he finally pulls away, a soft sigh escapes her lips as the corners of her eyes crinkle in amusement.

"Tenni’s been a little angle, he had a good nap before waking up and demanding to be fed! I’m glad now that we got that unique rocking chair it sure makes feeding him easy!”

Tipping her head at the transformed business man, Talula begins to slowly speak, “Yes and no, it’s a rather complicated state that I exist in.When I was almost fifteen, I was attacked by a large black wolf. That was five hundred years ago and only recently found out why, which is something I’m exploring now in order to become what the spirits designed for me.”

As she was about to continue, her keen hearing picked up the sound of padded feet heading in their direction and she surmised they belonged to the resident feline. “I think we’re about to have company”, she offered as the light steps grew closer.

"You’re 500 hundred years old?" Harrison asked, his cat eyes wide.  "Damn girl, you look good!"

He turned just as Helen jumped up onto the counter.  She instantly froze at the sight of another cat, especially one eating on her counter, and stiffened into an aggressive stance.  Harrison likewise bristled, his instincts telling him to be wary of another cat in his territory, but he tried t push the feeling away.  ”Helen,” he said, his voice slightly tense.  ”It’s me.  It’s Daddy.”

She hissed a response and he couldn’t help but hiss back.

As soon as the hissing starts, Talula takes action without even thinking. She’d been witness to too many feline disputes to let it go beyond the preliminaries, so she quicky reached out and took both off the counter with a firm but careful grip on each scruff. Realizing that one was a person, she apologetically put Mr. Drake back down while maintaining her hold on the female, who was burning her daggers in looks.

"Sorry about that sir, but I’d hate to see you get injured by your own cat!"

Harrison appreciates her touch — it lifts him out of his animal instincts.  But when he sees her holding Helen in the air, his face immediately softens.

"No, no, just put her down," he fussed, running over to where she stood, holding his cat.  He knew she was trying to help, but he did not like the idea of anyone manhandling his baby.   “It’s okay princess, I know you didn’t mean it.  It’s me, it’s daddy.”

Using both hands to place the indignant house cat back on the counter, she could feel the insides of her ears burning and hoped he didn’t notice how pink they had gotten. At least it appeared to have put the female calico in a calmer state of mind, although her tail tip was twitching furiously.

"I wouldn’t hurt her intentionally but I know how vicious cats can get at a moments notice, they can go from zero to chainsaw in two seconds flat!" She can still recall one where both antagonists had ended up dead because of it.

Taking a step back, she kept her eye on the female to be sure she was over the earlier hostility she had felt. It appeared she had calmed and was more open to friendly attention, although she did continue to burn her looks. “Uhm, maybe I should return to my human form, that way your cat won’t be so suspicious of me. Is there a bathroom close by where I can change and get dressed?”

"Well then, I will take my time sipping this so I can savor every last drop!" Was her cheerful response, she should be able to find it on the internet and made a mental note to look. As her pregnancy progressed, so did her hankering for things that she didn’t normally eat and drink and sarsaparilla was one of those!

As the settled into a comfortable silence, both busy with food, she began to idly wonder what it would be like to live in a similar state. The humor of it made her begin to laugh and she ended up choking slightly on the fish, which had her upending the bottle to wash it all down and giving the cat an apologetic look. “Sorry about that, I need to learn not to muse and swallow at the same time!”

Harrison cocked his head, studying her.  ”So you’re….. a werewolf?” he asked.   He’d been trying to figure it out for a while now and with a little food and water in him, he was feeling far more clearheaded.

Unknown to him was that the smells of fish and cheese had wafted out over the kitchen and into the dining room, where Helen was taking a nap on one of the dining room chairs.  However the smell of food woke her and she hopped down and stretched, heading for the kitchen.

Talula was in the process of cutting a piece off of the soft ripened cheese when she noticed how her host was trying to deal with the fish, she quickly intercede with a soft, “Here, let me”, as she reached over and broke a fair sized piece off and crumbled it over the other plate.

Satisfied that there was enough to take the edge off hunger for a cat his size, she continued to break another hunk off and set it on her plate. Pausing to see if there might be anything else she might like to add on her plate, the wolf girl returned to the fridge and emitted a sound of delight when she came across a bottle of soda at the back of a shelf she’d had a few times and had not been able to find in Metro. “Ooh! I adore this brand of sarsaparilla, where on earth did you find it at? The last time I had any was while we were on our honeymoon out in Albuquerque!”

Harrison was very gratefully for her help and immediately began eating the small pieces of fish with gusto.  He only paused to watch her gush over the soda.  ”Oh Wayne likes those,” he explained.  ”They’re more natural and less sweet.  Our staff knows how to get them, though I’m not sure if they’re local or flown in to be honest.”
