{Open Dandelions.}

glitter-tornado:

“Dandelions!” Haz`le shouted happily.

She had just come out of the forest to find a whole field of them. She ran forward into the weeds, the white seeds flying off in her wake. She laughed as she zigged and zagged and twirled and jumped causing more of the seeds to blow away in the wind. The fairy picked a bunch and threw them up in the air, stems and all. She continued playing in the dandelions like this for a full hour without rest, until finally she stopped and lay down among the weeds.

Her breath started to slow as she watched the clouds float lazily by. She occasionally batted at one of the dandelions, sending the seeds flying away. She picked one and examined it. Her mother had told her that if she blew off all the seeds in one breath her wish would come true. She took a deep breath and blew as hard as she could, twirling the stem between her fingers. The seeds gave little resistance; they were almost all blown away already, the hardest ones to get were the ones on the bottom. Her breath began to dwindle and she flicked the stem once, finally the last seed surrendered and flew away. She didn’t know if she exactly fulfilled the requirements, but she was going to wish anyway. Haz`le pondered for a moment. She probably couldn’t wish anything huge, like the dark dragon being defeated or having her wings back, these types of whishes didn’t work like that. Instead, for the moment, she just wished for some friendly company.

Talula had been experimenting again with her new found ability to teleport, only this time she’d managed to end up somewhere other then the woodlands that surrounded the Michigan side of the lake.

As she began to explore this new forest, the sound of someone breathing hard catches her attention. Since she was in her wolf form, most noises were amplified and easy to detect. She follows the sounds and comes upon an intersting sight, a fairy playing in a field of dandelions. She decides to wait, amused by the fae’s enthusiastic romping.

When the fairy finally settles down to laze in the sun, she finally decides to introduce herself and slowly walks towards the fairy. “Hello! Looks like you were having fun, mind if I join you? My names Talula by the way and I’m a very friendly werewolf!” She holds her ears forward as she lowers her head, not wanting to look threatening.

Talula’s eyes follow the direction of Greg’s and they widen slightly as she mulls over the load. “Hmm, I’m not sure how we would pack all of it in order to take it on a jump with us? Unless…”, she skips to the presents and spreads her arm wide, then curls them inwards as though scooping it up.

"Maybe, just maybe I could send it ahead if I concentrate solely on it instead of us? We should probably test that theory by sending something small first, that way if it never gets there it won’t be a great loss!" After a moment, she pulls up short and whirls to face her love with a slightly concerned look. "Oh, but that would mean we’d have to let someone back at home know what we’re trying to do!"

"I think we should call Bernie, then. She’s the one learning magic now, so she won’t be too surprised if she sees all of the sudden all kind of stuff popping out in our bedroom!" Greg answered with a chuckle, and he picked up his cellphone.

"Bernie? It’s me, Greg!"

At the other side of the phone, a soapy Bernadette had stepped out of the shower to answer her brother’s call.

"Greg? Greg, hey! What’s up? Is everything OK where you are? You caught me getting ready for a date…"

"Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do." Greg teased with a smirk, and winked an eye to his wife. "Tal and me found out something really awesome. I think you should talk with her, that way she’ll explain you everything with detail." he handed the cellphone to Talula with a smile. "It’s Bernie, go and tell her about your new powers!"

Taking the phone, Talula tries to dampen down her excitement before speaking into the device. It was a pretty poor attempt though as her words came out in a rush. “Bernadette, you’ll never in a million years guess what happened today! We went to old Fort Sumner and while we were there I decided to see if I could move both of us at the same time from there to our hotel room and I did it Bernadette, I fucking DID IT!!!”

She catches her breath before calmly continuing, “So, how is your day?”

Talula’s jaw drops when Greg informs her of the distance, she’d brought them across so many miles in the time it took to blink! With a quick glance at the clock, she quietly says, “It’s four twenty…And yes, it means we’ll have to be careful using it casually. I don’t know if it has some sort of safety built into it and if by chance I’m too far off the mark, I don’t know what would happen if I ended up in a wall or something!”

The implications were clear though, they would need to physically go to a place before she attempted to teleport there. “I think for our own reference, I’m going to call this ability ‘jumping’. It’s easier to remember and no one will know we actually mean teleporting.”

"Mmh, ‘jumping’ sounds like a good name. No one would suspect about its true meaning." he nodded with a delighted grin. They had arrived surprisingly early to the hotel, so they had plenty of time to go shopping. He clapped his hands, giving her a playful grin. "since we’ve been at home plenty of times, I think we’ll be able to ‘jump’ there anytime we want! We can always travel to unusual places by more ordinary ways the first time, and use the jumps to return. Imagine all the money we’d save! It would be incredible!!"

He gave a look at the rug and the rest of the presents that they had bought already. “We’d be able to take all of these things home without having to carry all this weight to the airport… Can you imagine it? No more strain on our backs!” It was then when his stomach growled. “But first… I think I’ll need a snack, hehehehe!”

"I was born and grew up in a small village, in the New Mexico desert. Back then we were basically hunter gatherers, collecting the essentials from our Mother earth. When the white eyes came and took it away, we had to learn new ways to survive." There’s a slight note of longing in Talula’s voice, for that past way of life.

Leaning over, she begins to carefully lap at the steaming liquid in the thermos cap. The rich thick beverage warmed her as it slid smoothly down her throat. “Mmm, home made hot cocoa is always so much better than instant!”

Amoxtli spent most of her life at her village, although there were days she was homesick she still would not return to Yucatan before she’d learn as much as she could and maybe found a mate, but that last one was optional.

She also drank the hot cocoa and smiled. “Back at home this is the drink of the gods.” she chuckled.

Talula lifts her head slightly as her ears perk forward, a slight turn at the corner of her mouth. “Really? If I recall right, weren’t the priests and kings the only ones allowed to imbibe it?”

The mention of gods sparks a thought and her voice takes off before she can consider her words. “Speaking of gods, have you ever met any? I have a kind of guardian one myself.”

Her face grows hot at the compliment and Talula finds herself ducking her head. “All I did was concentrate really hard on where I wanted to be, then thought about wanting to be here now and that’s where we ended up being!”

She had also thought hard on being sure he also came but figured Greg didn’t need to know that. All that matters was the end result and that she now knew how to access her ability on-demand, she wasn’t sure how she’d use it against an enemy but was positive it would come in handy during a crisis.

"Now that we’re back in Albuquerque, we can get on with finding the final gift!", she brightly says, before pausing to turn an awe struck expression on her mate. "Hu..how far of a jump was that any way?"

"You did it really well." he whispered, pressing a light kiss on her cheek. Greg felt inmensely happy for her. There were so many things that they could do with this power! If it worked with large distances, maybe they wouldn’t to buy plane tickets to return to Metro City… They could be there anytime they wanted!

"Yeah! I think we’re still at time. What time is it, could you check it while I’m checking the distance with Google Maps?" he requersted, as he took out his cellphone from his pocket. A couple of names, a new map… And his eyes widened in awe.

"We made a journey of two hours and 162 miles in just a few seconds!" he exclaimed, before giving her an excited grin. "Do you realize what this means, na’ha’ne??"

The full force of what she’s accomplished hits her and Talula feels her head spinning. She would’ve staggered if not for her husband’s sudden jubilation, the twirling he gave her actually seemed to bring back her equilibrium.

She tenderly runs a hand across her belly as soon as Greg inquired about their unborn child. “I guess this time he or she was asleep because there’s no indication of any protest, at least not any I can feel.” But as she began to turn a strong kick alerts her otherwise. “Uh! Now settle down in there, I was only getting us back to our room the quickest way possible!”

"Looks like he is she likes to make itself known, hahahaha!" he laughed, patting gently her belly, then caressing it. It was a beautiful way to pamper both his wife and their unborn baby. Looking up, Greg leaned forward and nuzzled her forehead with his.

"I’m so, SO proud of you, na’ha’ne! It only took you a few hours to control it! If you managed to control something so impressive in such short time, I’d bet that you’ll be able to control at least one more of your powers before the year ends!!" he exclaimed, beaming in pride.

Her face grows hot at the compliment and Talula finds herself ducking her head. “All I did was concentrate really hard on where I wanted to be, then thought about wanting to be here now and that’s where we ended up being!”

Talula fight back the nervousness she feels at taking such a risk with her heart’s fire, but he was probably very close when he said the worse case scenario was him being left behind. So with a staunch resolve, she takes a step towards him and wraps her arms tightly around him.

Before she attempts to move them both, she looks up and smiles warmly at Greg. “Are you ready na’ha’ne? If this works, we should reappear right in the middle of our hotel room.” She then gives him an extra squeeze and closes her eyes, concentrating on the location she wished to arrive at.

There was a sudden jolt as though the ground had dropped out from beneath them, then an odd sense of pressure that quickly subsided. She cautiously opens one eye then lets out with a victorious scream. “I DID IT! I did it, I did it, I did it!!!”

They were standing just off to the side of the table, just a few inches short of the mark she had wanted to appear. But at the moment she didn’t care about that, she’d actually managed to control one of her newfound abilities.

"I was born ready!" he laughed, leaning forward and holding her as tightly as he could. Greg just hoped that her powers her strong enough to drag him with her. Hiding his face on her shoulder, the young man relaxed and nodded. "Let’s do it!!"

He closed his eyes as he felt a jolt running down his spine. He felt tempted to scream, but before he could say anything, Greg felt something firm under his feet. It was… the floor?! He looked around, and his jaw dropped in pure awe.

"You did it, na’ha’ne…" he whispered, before the full weight of what just had happened hit him like a brick. She had managed to teleport them at will!!!

"OMG, YOU DID IT!! YOU DID IT; YOU DID IT!!!" he was practically dancing with her into his arms, unable to keep in so much happiness. After spinning around for a little, Greg pulled her close and stole a passionate kiss from her lips, his hands messing gently with her hair. Oh, just one kiss and she was everything he was hungry of. Moving his lips to her neck, Greg gave her some tender nibbles, humming happily as he caressed her belly.

"How is doing our little one? Is he or she comfy, not kicking Mommy after teleportation…?"

The full force of what she’s accomplished hits her and Talula feels her head spinning. She would’ve staggered if not for her husband’s sudden jubulation, the twirling he gave her actually seemed to bring back her equalibrium.
