Talula decided to use her sister’s old room to transform since it wasn’t in use at the current time, she doubted Thalia would mind and it would speed up their departure. She rushed into the room, not even bothering to shut the door all the way and quickly threw off the shirt she’d borrowed from Jason as she stopped in the middle of the floor.

Closing her eyes while recalling the sensation of her first flight, she hoped it worked. When she shifted her weight from one foot to the other, the rustle of feathers told her she’d achieved her goal and she hurried to join her sister. The door only made her pause as she lifted a taloned foot and pulled it all the way open, the sharp tips made a scraping noise as they brushed against the metal of the knob. She strutted up to Thalia, noting she had to tip her head slightly to look down at her as she spoke.

"Are you ready for a quick flight across town? I’ll fly high then swoop low as we get near the hotel and land in the wide alley behind it. You can go on ahead to see what the situation’s like while I change from eagle to wolf, then join you inside the building. I plan on heading back to the room where we rescued Haz’le from so I can find her belt, once I do I’ll be heading back for the roof where I can take off from  and head back here. If you have any other suggestions, let me know now!"

"Work? What does have to work?" Jason asked, not imagining what was running through Haz’le’s mind. It looked almost as if she was sad for that guy. "Haz’le… did you know him? This guy… Tifos, you called him?"

Meanwhile, Thalia waited for Talula. She didn’t mind her sister using her bedroom - in fact, she was more than happy to lend it to anyone who needed rest or just some privacy. When she came back, an excited grin filled her face. Now she could see her new form, it was even more beautiful than she could ever imagine!

"Omg Tal, you look GORGEOUS!!" she exclaimed, giving her a gentle hug after she jumped onto her back. "And I was created ready! I often fly in Sadon’s arms anyway, so I’m not afraid of heights. I think yours is a better plan than mine, a super snout might be helpful in this situation!"

She wrapped her arms around Talula’s neck to ensure she wouldn’t fall. “Let’s go!!!”

Haz`le nodded into Jason’s arm.

"Tifos was my friend back before the dark dragon came. I don’t remember much though. Like I said, I gave away my happy memories to help him. He’s being controlled by shadow magic, which increases your darkest desires and twists your best intentions. I think he used to be a very good friend. Why else would I give up my memories for him? And I think that I used to maybe have a crush on him?” She couldn’t remember at all. Those memories were gone. All that was left was a faint feeling.

"I don’t feel that way for him anymore of course. After what he’s done." She wondered if it would be a great shock to him when he returned to normal. Would he remember? She knew she probably wouldn’t react the same around him? Would he grow to resent that?

"After he followed Sphinx and I to her house, we caught him and sent him away so he could get better. So he could eventually get free of the shadow magic. But he must’ve escaped somehow. I just hope that when we get him back, that whatever Sphinx has him going through, will work. Maybe he’ll only be truly free when the dark dragon is gone. But that might be a while. I hope he gets better before then." She said sadly.

Waiting until Thalia was settled, Talula made for the stairway she’d entered when she flew in and managed to to reach the roof with only a minor incident when she bumped her head on the door frame. She was going to have to remember that her eagle form was bipedal, which meant anything above shoulder height would have to be noted so as not to be run into.

Once they were on the roof, she didn’t slow down but instead began to do a hop run just before leaping into the air as she flapped her wings. As they went sailing over the edge of the building, she turned to look and be sure her sister was secure before beating the air with her mighty wings.

They soon neared the hotel where Haz’le had been held, at least it wasn’t obviously burning any more but the entire area was cordoned off by that yellow tape police used. She dipped a wing and veered for the alley she had seen earlier, landing neatly in the shadows with a natural ease. Waiting until Thalia slid off, she went from feathers to fur in the blink of an eye as she quietly said, “It looks like someone forgot to secure the kitchen door, see? It’s slightly open!”

Haz`le smiled shyly, looking down bashfully when Jason told Thalia that she was his girlfriend.

But she didn’t expect his sister’s reaction. She blinked in surprise, then smiled and sit next to Jason on the bed, leaning on him happily. She was glad that his sister approved.

She blinked again when Thalia said to take care of Jason. If anything he was the taking care of him recently. Saving her and all. But maybe it was because Jason had used a lot of energy? With Talula and Thalia gone, if Tifos woke up that might be bad.

"Could you guys take Tifos to the other room please? And make sure that he doesn’t wake up while your gone?" She turned to Jason, looking at him curiously.  "And is there anything you need? Are you feeling any better?"

Watching the exchange between her adoptive siblings with an amused grin, when Haz’le asks them to remove Tifos from the room Talula gives a curt nod as she speaks in a serious tone, “Sure we can and I’ll make sure the ropes are secure as well. Can’t have him working himself out of his bonds before I get back!”

She gave her sister a nod as she took hold of the evil fairy’s feet, waiting for Thalia to take him up by the shoulders. Together they both hauled him off to the living room and dumped him on the couch. Once they had him in what looked like a fairly comfortable position, she checked to be sure his bonds were still secure but decided to ensure he didn’t break free and called to the robotic birds. “Calliope, Clio, could you come here and keep an eye on Tifos? If he wakes up and tries to get free, go tell Jason immediately!”

Satisfied that their captive would be secure while they were away, she turned once more to Thalia. “Okay, now that he’s settled it’s time to take a quick trip back to the hotel. I’ll go change into my eagle form, then we’ll fly there and find Haz’le’s belt!”

Watching her concern, Jason ruffled gently Haz’le’s hair. “Right now I don’t need anything. I’m charging and you’re here with me, I think I’ll be alright.” He looked up, smiling softly to his sisters. “Make sure that… Tifos doesn’t bother us.” He had a feeling that Haz’le had mentioned him before, but he couldn’t recall exactly the details. Or was it just his imagination messing with him? Hard to know.

Following Talula’s implied request, Thalia helped her to pick up the unconscious fairy and carried him to the living room. That fire of the building… Was it caused by such small person? Or did her siblings have something to do with it? She didn’t know, but with siblings like hers, everything was possible.

It was then when she noticed the robotic birds. decorated with the same intricate designs that Jason put in all his creations. “Oh, these are adorable!” she squeaked in joy, reaching to pet Clio. The robotic sparrow chirped in joy before flying toward Talula. They nuzzled her face, aware that she was an important person for their creator, and jumped next to Tifos, staring at him with their eyes wide open.

"Such tiny guardians." Thalia commented with a giggle, before turning to her sister. "I think that’s an excellent plan, but that place is on fire now. I have experience working on fires. Maybe you could fly around the building after you drop me there? I’m pretty much indestructible, like Jason. The fire won’t hurt me."

Haz`le smiled and blushed when Jason ruffled her hair. She wrapped both of her arms around one of his and leaned against him happily.

She let out a sad sigh as she watched Tifos being brought out of the room. She knew they used to be good friends, even if she couldn’t remember. The fairy had given up all her good memories of him to help him.

"I just hope it’ll work." She said quietly, not even aware that she had said it out loud. Sphinx was going to help him. She wanted him to be okay. Despite what he had done she still cared about him, even if they would never have the relationship they once had.

She gave another sigh and snuggled her face into Jason’s arm. She gritted her teeth. Her neck was starting to bother her, she would have bruises there for sure. But for now, she wasn’t sure what to do until Talula and Thalia came back. Her only way of contacting Sphinx was on that belt.

Giving her fairy friend a nod, Talula turns to her sister and beams while saying, “So how about it sister of mine, up for a ride right out of a Tolkien novel?”

She was pretty sure the mechanics for changing from human to eagle were the same as going from human to wolf, all she did was think of being on four feet. It made sense that if she thought on being able to fly, then the  mighty golden eagle form would appear.

"Nice to meet you, Haz’le." Thalia shook her hand with a wide grin. She really didn’t know what kind of connection existed between her brother and this winged girl, but if he had used all of his energy to help her, she had to be someone very dear to him. A really good friend, or… a girlfriend, maybe? The thought made her blush a bit. "So, Jason… She’s a friend of yours…?" she asked slyly.

"Actually, she’s my girlfriend." he answered with a proud grin, as he sat up on the bed. "But I’ll tell you the details later. First we have to send that guy with Sphinx."

"OMG! YAY!" Thalia rushed to give him a happy hug. "I’m so happy for you, Jason! I knew you’d find your other half one day, I knew it!" She pulled back and took Haz’le’s hand, placing it on her brother’s. "You two make such a sweet couple. Father would be proud."

The cyborg turned to his dear shapeshifter sister and hugged her as well. “Yes, I’m ready! I heard that people saw a giant eagle flying from the fire… That was you, right?” She pulled back, still holding her hands on hers. “I’m ready to go if you are. Are we going to travel in wolf or eagle express?”

Looking back one last time, Thalia winked an eye to Haz’le. She had a good feeling about this girl. “Take care of my brother while we’re out, mmh?”

Haz`le smiled shyly, looking down bashfully when Jason told Thalia that she was his girlfriend.

Haz`le walked over and slid on the dress, she blushed a little when Jason said she would look gorgeous in it. She did know that black was one of his favorite colors.

She looked down at her self. The dress was a little big, but there was enough room in the back for her wings. When Talula mentioned finding a belt or scarf, she waved her off.

"I’ll just use my own belt." The fairy stopped in her tracks. Her belt! Tifos had taken it! It was back in the hotel room! Her shawl, the bottle of levitating dust that her friend had given her, numerous seeds, clippings, souvenirs and her only way to contact Sphinx was in that belt.

So lost in her thoughts was she that she barely heard the knock on the door. She was pulled out of her thoughts by Jason’s voice.

"Jason!" She said, running over to him and putting her hands on his chest. "My belt! It’s back at the hotel room!"

When Talula hears the familiar voice of her sister, she smiles and happily says, “I’m coming, hang on!”, and she hurries to open the door wide and throw her arms around her in a tight hug.

As she steps back, she loosens her hold and shakes her head. “You would not believe the day we’ve had and the surprises it held. I just discovered I have another form, that of an enormous golden eagle!”

She hears what Haz’le says and turns and helpfully adds, “Thalia and I could go back and retrieve your belt, it shouldn’t be very hard if I use both forms. The eagle to get us there quickly and the wolf to track down the belt!”

Thalia returned the hug, always happy to see her sister again. She missed her a lot, and treasured every moment that they could spend together. “TAL! I’m so happy to see you again! And you say… an eagle? WOW!!!! I want to see that!”

The cyborg blinked in surprise when she heard a female voice coming from her sibling’s bedroom. She gave a confused look to her soul sister before she peeked to Jason’s bedroom… Just a to see a short winged girl.

"OH!" she exclaimed in surprised, before she clapped her hands. She walked toward Haz’le, offering her one of her hands as greeting. "So good to meet you! Who are you? I’m Thalia, one of Jason’s sisters!"

Haz`le blinked at Thalia’s extended hand before she remembered she was supposed to shake it. That was something she was always forgetting. She took the hand and shook it gently.

"Nice to meet you." She said, slightly nervous. "My name is Haz`le."

How much should she say? How much did Thalia know? Should she say that Jason was her beau? Was she the one married to a half-dragon? The half-dragon she knew she shouldn’t be nervous about but still was? Was she wearing Thalia’s dress? Would she be okay with that?

She was pulled out of her many wonderings by Talula. She turned to her friend with a smile. “Oh, really?” She said, clasping her hands in front of her. “If you could do that, it would be great! The only way I can contact Sphinx is on that belt!”

Giving her fairy friend a nod, Talula turns to her sister and beams while saying, “So how about it sister of mine, up for a ride right out of a Tolkien novel?”

Haz`le lifted her head and gave them both a small secretive smile. She had met many different people on her travels, Sphinx being one of them.

Haz`le’s smile fell a little at Talula’s question. “As far as she knows, she’s the only sphinx left. She doesn’t like to talk about it much.” The only thing worse than being the last one and dying, was being the last one and not being able to die. “I’m sure she’d love to meet you guys, but not today alright? She’ll want to deal with Tifos. But I’ll tell her about you guys okay?”

Honestly she knew she was being a little selfish. She wanted to speak with Sphinx all by herself. She was one of the first friends the fairy had made on her journey. Perhaps no one knew what Haz`le was going through better than her.

Jason’s small touches felt so good and comforting, her wings quivered slightly. She wanted more, but she had to deal with this first.

Very reluctantly she pulled herself from Jason’s grasp and heaved a sigh. “If I’m going to meet Sphinx I need some clothes.” She said with a small embarrassed smile. She blushed slightly, as if realizing for the first time how naked she was. The fairy couldn’t help but pull one of her wings over her chest, which did almost nothing to hide anything. But it still made her feel a little better.

Talula stifles a grin when her fairy friend becomes shy about being practically undressed, coughing into her hand instead before helpfully offering, “I saw a few of Thalia’s things when I was looking for a shirt, maybe we could find something that would modestly cover you while you talk to your friend, Sphinx?”

She turns and walks back to the closet and begins pulling some clothing out, a triumphant sound comes from her when she finds a sundress that was short for most women but would hang all the way past Haz’le’s knees. Turning around while holding the dress up, she cheerily says, “I think this might work perfectly!”

She carries it over and holds it in front of the slight woman and smiles as she compares the two, giving a satisfied nod as she chuckles, “I think if you slip this on, we can pull it in at the waist with a scarf or belt. Does that sound like a reasonable solution to you?”

When he saw the dress Talula had found, Jason couldn’t help but smile. The details of the dress were in black, one of his favourite colors. It would be so nice to see Haz’le wearing it! Somehow it gave him an odd sense of pride.

"I think you’ll look gorgeous with that dress, Haz’le." he whispered, shifting his position to follow them with his eyes.

But, before he could add anything else, someone knocked to the door, and a familiar voice could be heard behind it - a cheerful, excited one, which belonged to certain cyborg with dark skin and strawberry blonde hair. ”Jason! Jason, are you home? It’s me, Thalia! I heard the news… Are you OK? Jason? Jason, please, open the door!”

He chuckled faintly and whispered quickly to Haz’le. “That’s Thalia, my other sister.” he laughed, before talking louder. “I’d open the door, but I’m charging and I barely can move! Hold on!”

He turned to Talula, giving her a pleading look. “Tal, could go to open the door for Thalia, please?”

Haz`le walked over and slid on the dress, she blushed a little when Jason said she would look gorgeous in it. She did know that black was one of his favorite colors.
